Research

Pillerton Priors

We are continuing work on Pillerton Priors Roman villa in Warwickshire. Geophysics carried out so far has revealed a complex development from a native style settlement to a high status Roman villa. Surrounding features are starting to suggest a developed prehistoric landscape possibly dating to the Bronze Age. We hope that this seasons work will reveal more of this landscape and allow a more accurate sequence to be constructed.

Castle Combe

Our survey of Castle Combe's motte and bailey castle has been running for five years now. The aim is to produce an accurate digital model of the site which is almost completely wooded. The interior is complete but we have the difficult task of surveying the outer ringwork defences in dense woodland and 1:2 slopes!
